I’m thinking mostly of tabletop role-playing games (rpgs).
When you can be who and whatever you want to be in a fictional (say, imagine the two extremes: Lord of the Rings, Cyberpunk) or today’s, present’s (can be use e.g.: Vampire: Masquarade, Kult, etc.) world.
There is the Dangeon Master, who provides a framework for this, fills the world with life, gives events from outside to us, alongside those generated by ourselves, even just in the real life. We do things, we solve, we explode out this and that. Like here. Just… Just in another dimension, let’s say.
We can peek into: what it would be like if. We can live a thousand lives in addition to the current one.
What I learned during such games: to pay attention to details. In certain worlds and situations, our lives depended on it. Communication, how to express ourself. To open up to others, not to be ashamed of who we are. Figuring out who we are or who we not.
Doing smart, with brain. But everything! As soon as possible. The development of situation awareness and problem-solving skills. To live in the moment, to think about the situation of the other one. Arguing is not the same as fighting.
Just because I don’t agree with someone, they can be my friend, lovely one, partner, I can love them, we can pull each other out of… thaaaat. Then we can continue the discussion =) So, order of importance, getting over the ego (or the fall of it…) and I could list more.
Examination of ourselves and others.
That the world, decisions are not black and white. That reaching the goal is not necessarily the goal itself.
I recommend it to young and old. The most developmental game in this world! Eternal Love
